Ty Akbasli


Project Manager
Ty has worked in the construction industry since 2002, focusing primarily on healthcare-related projects since 2006. He enjoys making a positive impact on the community in both his career and personal life.  In Ty’s free time he enjoys traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad while visiting family and friends.

 


Eric Biskaduros


Project Engineer
Eric began his construction career working for a large concrete subcontractor in Northern Virginia, where he served as an APM and estimator for nearly 3 years.  He is now a Project Engineer and flex superintendent at Scott-Long, running various jobs onsite and from the office. Eric graduated from Virginia Tech in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and also has his E.I.T.  Eric enjoys camping, hiking, fishing and the great outdoors!


 


Justin Bradley


Project Engineer
Justin has worked in the construction industry since 2005 after graduating from Longwood University. He has had the opportunity to work on multiple construction projects throughout the state of Virginia.  His project experience includes luxury homes, office buildings, retail space, Dept. of Defense, and health care.  In his spare time, Justin enjoys staying active, playing golf, and spending time with his family and friends.


 


Ryan Bradley


Project Engineer
Ryan has been with Scott-Long since January 2011. Since joining Scott-Long Ryan has been involved in numerous healthcare and church construction projects. Ryan is currently pursuing a masters degree in Building Construction at Virginia Tech, where he also received his bachelors degree in Finance. In his free time Ryan enjoys spending time with his friends and family and wrestling with his nephews.


 


Ronny Cabrera


Superintendent
Ronny is originally from the Metropolitan D.C. area and joined Scott-Long in January 2012. His experience spans from major renovation and new construction projects to large-scale tenant fit-outs for high-profile clients. Ronnycurrently resides in Maryland with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he coaches soccer and futsal at the youth premier travel and high school levels>


 


Mark Cager


Project Manager
Mark has been in the construction industry since 1993.  He has successfully completed projects that range from $100k-$60million in base building, tenant renovation, biotech and healthcare. He attended VMI on a full football scholarship and graduated with a BA in Economics.  Mark has 3 wonderful children, Jordan, Makayla, and Marcus, and enjoys coaching them and attending their basketball & football games and cheerleading competitions.


 


Cris Campbell


Senior Project Manager
Born into a construction family, Cris started early in the field and worked his way into his current position.  Cris's strengths reside in Healthcare, Base Building, Biotech, MEP Systems, 2D Coordination, and Building Systems Commissioning. Cris served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Ordnance Technician. He is a member of the NRA and a lifelong hunter and fisherman. Cris misses Ronald Reagan!


 


Chris Carder


Field Manager
Chris began work in the construction trade over 15 years ago, enjoying 12 years of commercial general contracting in the Northern Virginia area. He is excited when reminiscing about the projects he has constructed; though he is always looking forward to the challenge of the next. Chris is happily married to a woman that has blessed his family with 3 fantastic children. He enjoys the summer months, the satisfaction felt when he's done his best, and time spent with his family.


  


Sandi Carey


Preconstruction Coordinator
Sandi joined Scott-Long in the year 2000 as part of the construction department, but found her true calling coordinating the daily chaos of the Estimating department. Sandi and her husband Tim have lived and worked in the area for many years and have a lot of family close by.  She enjoys her free time by spending it with family, friends, her amazing son and her dog Ruby. 


 


Brent Cato


Controller
Brent has been in construction accounting and management since 1990 and joined the Scott-Long team in 2007. Brent manages the accounting and IT sectors of Scott-Long.  Brent lives in Herndon, Virginia, and enjoys running and endurance sports in his spare time.  His spring and summer weekends are usually spent at his parents winery where he helps them plant grapes and produce great wine! 


 
 


Stan Chastain


Senior Estimator
Stan has been in the construction industry since the 1970's, during which he has been exposed to such facets as estimating, purchasing, contract administration and operations. Over the years he has been involved with various professional organizations (ABC, AGC, AIC, etc.) associated with the construction industry. Stan has an extended family located throughout the United States; grandchildren, nieces and nephews, son, parent, sibling with spouse, etc. He received a degree in building construction from Purdue University. He has been involved, at different times, with various youth sports as a coach and instructor. He has also served over the years, in various capacities and at different chapters, as a volunteer for his college social fraternity.


 


Rick Compton


Senior Project Manager
Rick is a mining engineer by education but has been in the construction industry since 1984.  He began his career with SLC in 2001.  Rick married his  high school sweetheart in 1985 and they have two wonderful teenage children.


 


 


Bryan Daughtry


Project Engineer
Bryan began his construction career remodeling residential homes in Columbia, Maryland, where he grew up.  In 2008, he graduated from Virginia Tech and moved to Williamsburg, Virginia, to work for a site and utility construction contractor.  After over 3 years of estimating experience, he, his wife, and daughter moved up to Northern Virginia to join Scott-Long and be closer to family.  Bryan enjoys music, playing with his guitar, and playing with his daughter, Abby.


 


Dennis Dellinger


Superintendent
Dennis first started working with Scott-Long in the 1980's. During his tenure he has felt fortunate to work on some challenging projects.  He and his wife live in Warrenton, Virginia. They have been married since 1981 and have one son.  Dennis likes to play as much golf as possible in his spare time.
 


 
 


Jason Dunham


Project Manager
Jason graduated from George Mason University with a degree in Civil Engineering after serving four years in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He has been with Scott-Long Construction since 2008 and has been in the construction industry for over ten years working in field and office roles for both subcontractors and GC’s. Jason currently resides in Haymarket, VA with his beautiful wife and three young children.  He enjoys spending time with his family and watching his kids play sports.   


 


Mike Dramby


Project Manager
Mike is originally from Ellicott City, Maryland. He joined Scott-Long in January 2007, where he works primarily on healthcare and church construction. Mike went to Radford University where he was the goalkeeper for the soccer team. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer, spending time with friends, and visiting his brothers and their families.



 


Matt Fowler


Director of Pre-Construction
Matt has worked in the DC Metropolitan area since graduating from Virginia Tech with a BS in Building Construction in 1995.  He joined Scott-Long in 2009 and has been steadily working with clients and design teams to add value to projects. Matt and his wife enjoy going on adventures with their children.  In his free time, Matt likes to snowboard, mountain bike, and play soccer.


 


Jane Glass


Senior Accountant
Jane moved from Pennsylvania to Northern Virginia in June 2006. While in Pennsylvania, she worked for 22 years for the Cambria County Redevelopment Authority. During her tenure, she received a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Saint Francis University. Jane began working with Scott-Long Construction in July 2006 as a temp-to-hire Payroll Accountant.  In September 2006, she became permanently employed with Scott-Long Construction and has since been promoted to Sr. Accountant. Jane enjoys playing Bunco, swimming and spending time with her family on the weekends.


 


Thomas Gray


Superintendent
Tom has been working in construction since the early 1990's.  Particularly strong in Healthcare and Tenant Renovations, he enjoys working with the tradesmen to coordinate the details and work through potential conflicts. Tom is originally from Slidell, Louisiana.  He attended college and played rugby at VCU and Mary Washington University, where he met his wife, Susan. They reside in South Riding with their three children and two dogs. 


 


Mark Guillen


Superintendent
Mark is proud to be a member of the Scott-Long Construction Team. He enjoys working hard and meeting the challenges that each day brings. His wife, Sue, has been a teacher since 1986.  They are blessed with 4 beautiful children. Jake attends Towson University where he plays club lacrosse.  His second oldest son is K.C. and he attends UMBC in the pre-dental program. His daughter Kallie attends Indiana University of Pa. on a lacrosse scholarship.  His youngest son Joe, is in high school and plans to play football and lacrosse.  Mark's family enjoys spending time together and going to church.  Mark also enjoys the opportunity to get out and play a round of golf.


 


Bob Harper


Superintendent
Bob has been in the construction industry since 1981, acting as a superintendent since 1996.  Most recently, since 2001, he has had a focus on healthcare construction.  He and his wife, Mindy, have one son, Taylor.  He also has a stepdaughter, Brittany.


 


Thomas Hern


Superintendent
Thomas has been in the business since 1967. He enjoys looking back at past projects and thinking that he built them for people to use and enjoy.  When not working, Thomas enjoys loading his Harley or Boat behind his Motor Home and also enjoying using what other people have built.


 
 


Tom Keane


Superintendent
Tom started his construction career in 1996 as a residential carpenter.  In 2004, he became a commercial construction superintendent in base buildings and moved to healthcare construction in 2008.  He spends his free time with his lovely wife and two beautiful young children.
 


 


John Kosco


Superintendent
John started his construction career as an estimator and assistant project manager after graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in construction management in 1999.  Since 2003 he has progressed as a superintendent on a wide range of building projects, from high-rise condominiums to a new public library.  In June 2011, he and his wife Christy welcomed the addition of a new boy, Benjamin.
 


Mike Longerbeam


Superintendent
Mike resides and has worked in the area since 1972 in both residential and commercial.  He has worked for Scott-Long Construction since 1996 as a Superintendent. Mike and his wife have 3 wonderful children and 3 beautiful grandchildren. He enjoys freshwater competitive fishing in the area and saltwater fishing for recreation.


 


Jim Martin


General Superintendent
Jim supervises the field of superintendents and has been with Scott Long since the early 1980's.  He and his wife Marcie live in Warrenton and in his free time he enjoys riding his Harley Davidson.


 


 


Andrew May


Project Manager
Andrew has been in the construction industry since 2005 and managed a variety of commercial projects within the religious and healthcare industries.  He is originally from the New England area and enjoys visiting his family.


 


 


Troy Mayner


Project Manager
Troy is a 2002 graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Troy began his career as a Project Engineer working on the Rockville Town Square project and at The National Institutes of Health. In 2006 he joined Scott-Long Construction and is currently a Project Manager working to make a positive impact on our community. Troy resides with his wife in Leesburg, Virginia, and loves to hike, bike, and play soccer in his spare time.


 


Brett Miller


Field Manager, Healthcare Services
Brett joined the Scott-Long team in 2005 after reluctantly leaving Blacksburg.  He completed his Masters in Architecture with a focus on Process Planning and Design through the Department of Building Construction.  His undergraduate degree is also in Building Construction. He earned his Associates Degree in Civil Engineering while working as a form carpenter and Layout Engineer on a concrete crew.  Currently he manages projects from the field for Scott-Long operations in Montgomery County, Maryland. Brett married his college sweetheart and lives in Reston, Virginia. 


 


Rick Mills


Senior Project Manager
Rick has been in the construction industry since 1981, in which 20 of those years were spent in the field as a supervisor. He has been a project manager since 2001. This experience has been invaluable to his career and clients.  Rick is married with three wonderful children. He loves the outdoors and fishing and hunting are his passions.


 


 


Brad Moser


Superintendent
Brad’s career is the third most important thing in my life behind his faith and family.  He very much enjoys what he does and it’s important that what he does leaves a legacy that will stand the test of time.  Brad and his wife have a wonderful son who is the joy of his life. Besides working, he enjoys spending time with his family and golfing.  Vacationing in Wisconsin at his in-laws lake cabin is something he looks forward to doing once a year.



Tom Mulquin


Senior Project Manager
Tom has been in the construction industry since 1986 serving as both a Project Engineer and Project Manager.  After graduating from Catholic University with a degree in Civil Engineering, he has worked exclusively in the construction industry on projects including private schools, theaters, gymnasiums, hospitals, urgent care facilities, Churches and hospitals. He enjoys working with his clients and their design teams and lending his education and experience in the industry to identifying and reducing the number of challenges on a project and contributing to the overall project success.  He believes in delivering to the client what he/she has contracted for and being fair with my subcontractors.  Notable projects include McLean Bible Church ( $18M ), The Hospital for Sick Children ( $26M ), Potomac School ( $25M ), and Fourth Presbyterian Church ( $14M ). Tom and his wife have been married and lived in McLean, Virginia since 1988. They have four children, Patrick (P.T.), Kelly, Jack and Will. Tom has coached basketball since 1985 in both the McLean youth program and Diocese of Arlington CYO organization and currently coaches 3 teams.  He enjoys smallmouth bass fishing on the Upper Potomac River and his chocolate lab, Lola.


 


Katie O'Leary


Corporate Development
Katie didn’t see construction in her future until 2004 when her marketing duties for an IT firm took her to China.  There she was introduced to the exciting opportunity of starting up a natural stone importing, fabrication and installation firm; where she ran the operations for commercial and multi-family developments.  At Scott-Long since early 2009, Katie loves working to develop relationships with partners passionate about making a positive impact in our community, because that’s what her family raised her to do! Away from work, she spends way too much time and money on running and traveling to far away places.


 


Melissa Owens


Office Manager
Melissa began her career with Scott-Long when there were only four people in the office – she was the office manager, project coordinator, and receptionist, all rolled into one. Her career happily continues with Scott-Long providing office management responsibilities and any assistance she can offer to further enhance Scott-Long’s excellent reputation. She feels fortunate to have an awesome son who graduated from James Madison University, and who now works as a CPA for a reputable accounting firm. Melissa is a certified scuba diver and enjoys many sports, particularly football, baseball and tennis; however, only as a spectator!


 


Nick Revak


Subcontractor Liason
Nick has been in the Washington DC numerous years now and in construction accounting ever since. He has had the pleasure of seeing both the General Contractor and Sub-Contractor side of accounting and construction, and to see how one has to work hand in hand with the other to get a project started and completed in a timely manner and on budget.  Nick's life is his family and it is what keeps him going. He and his wife are growing as a couple and family and look forward to many years to come. Nick feels fortunate to recently complete his bachelor’s degree with the anticipation of one day going back to continue his education and reach all of his career goals.  


 


John Scott


CEO
John’s has held most of the positions at Scott-Long including Laborer, Estimator, Superintendent, Project Manager, VP of Construction, and President.  His personal expertise is working with non-profits and healthcare organizations – matching the corporate missions with facilities.Born and raised in Fairfax County, John still lives in Fairfax.  He has been married since 1993 and has three children.  When he is not working he loves to hunt waterfowl, ski, run, and hang out on the the North Carolina coast. John grew up watching his Father, Bruce, build up Scott-Long Construction from scratch.  His earliest memories of the company are of Bruce touring his elementary school class through a jobsite for a field trip.  This type of activity gave John a love of the business and the desire to be part building something that makes a difference in people’s lives.  During school he worked for Scott-Long and various other companies including an electrician, concrete subcontractor, steel fabricator, and a civil engineer.  He received his civil engineering degree from Syracuse University in 1992 and shortly thereafter began work full time at Scott-Long.

Kenny has been in the construction industry since 1985 and started work with Scott-Long in June of 2000.


 


 


Brian Stewart


Project Engineer
Brian graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in building construction in 2008, and has been working in the construction industry since then.  Brian's construction experience includes churches, healthcare facilities, site utilities, and road construction.  He and his wife, Jessica, live in South Riding with their two dogs.  Brian enjoys spending his free time outdoors hunting and fishing.


Steve Straub


Senior Project Manager
Steve has been employed as a construction project manager since 1986 in the metropolitan area, specializing in Healthcare construction since 1999.  He has built a unique reputation with many of the Healthcare facilities managers in the area and understands the many challenges associated with Healthcare construction. Steve has been married since 1989 and has 3 wonderful children. He loves to vacation in the Caribbean with his family and enjoy watching the redskins and the Capitals -  "rock the red".  He also enjoys hanging out with colleagues outside of the office on an occasional basis.


  


Suzanne Swistak


Marketing Coordinator
Suzanne has been in the marketing industry since the year 2000.  Though her career has focused primarily on the marketing of established retail properties, she is excited to broaden her knowledge of the construction industry in her role as marketing coordinator at Scott-Long.  Suzanne loves ice skating and wine tasting in her free time, as well as traveling to tropical destinations.


 


Collins Tynan


Project Engineer
Collins grew up around construction, watching his father start his own project management firm while working for a high-end residential construction company throughout high school and college.  He brings with him a diverse knowledge of the trades, specifically with regard to finish carpentry and millwork.  Collins enjoys spending time with his wife, Megan, and daughter, Evelyn.  Time and seasons permitting, Collins loves college football and backpacking.
 


Clovis Van Ness


Superintendent
Clovis began working in the construction industry in 1981.  He specialized in structural concrete for 13 years, and then was self-employed doing site improvements and concrete construction for an additional 9 years before joining SLC in 2000.  He has been employed at Scott-Long since the year 2000; spending time as a carpenter, foreman, and most recently as a healthcare superintendent. Clovis enjoys being outdoors, landscaping, horses, spending time out west (anywhere) and riding his Harley! 


 


Richie Van Ness


Superintendent
Richard “Richie” has been in the construction industry since 1985. Previously he owned his own General Contracting business for 6 years. Richie has been married to his wife since 1994 and has two wonderful teenage children. He enjoys coaching girls softball, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.
