Preconstruction

What happens before the first spadeful of earth is turned has the greatest impact on the cost and timely completion of your project. Preconstruction services will vary from one project to another, but generally they include constructability reviews, cost control, phasing plans, scheduling, budgeting, value engineering, site logistics, material procurement and subcontractor selection. Being involved in the early stages of our projects allows us to build a strong relationship with the entire project team and allows us to identify and solve potential issues early.

General Contracting

Scott-Long is licensed in Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia and West Virginia. We have an outstanding team of project managers, superintendents and project engineers committed to the success of each project. Many of these individuals have over 20 years as Scott-Long employees.

At Scott-Long our teams have a proven track record of delivering the project on time, within budget and working in highly sensitive environments. We work with all types of contracts from fixed price, guaranteed maximum price to design build. Also working collaboratively with the design team early in the project ensures the overall success of the project.

 

Design/Build

Scott-Long believes that the lowest cost building isn't the same as the best built building the client can afford. The design-build method saves our clients time, money and frustration. Total responsibility for the design and construction is placed in the hands of a single entity for the entire project. The design-build team works with the management and operations personnel to identify the client's needs and provide counsel on important decisions that can affect design, performance and cost. The cooperative team effort permits our customers to accomplish tasks faster. Our customers save design, engineering and construction time. Many tasks under the coordinated team effort can be performed concurrently.

For the customer, the design-build approach means greater efficiency, cooperation instead of conflict, a better product for your money and the most cost-effective design possible.
